Lilyです。羊やアルパカなどの毛を使いリアルな動物たちを作っています。
ニードルフェルトの作品に命を吹き込む瞬間はとても幸せを感じます。少しずつ羊毛を刺していくことで、形、動き、表情を作っていきます。試行錯誤を繰り返して、特に長毛の動物の植毛の技術を磨いてきました。全身に植毛をして少しずつカットし仕上げるにはとても長い時間がかかります。リアルで美しい毛並みは私の作品の最大の特徴となっています。
最近は毛並みの質感、色、柄など動物の持つ美しさを表現すること、また心温まる作品を作ることに力を入れています。
I’m Lily and I create realistic animals out of wool and alpaca.
As an artist, it is a blissful moment when I breathe life into a needle felted sculpture. By poking wool roving little by little, I make it into the shape and add movement and emotion to it. Through years of trial and error, I developed my own method of creating long-haired animals. It takes quite a long time to felt long hair on the body; poke by poke and trim to finish the fur. The realistic and beautiful fur is the most notable feature of my work, and differentiating characteristic from others’ needle felted work.
These days my main interest is in expressing the beauty of natural fur of animals: its texture, color and patterns, and creating heartwarming work.
